WILLIAM H. BALDWIN 15 CLARK STREET Main 4781 J

Mr. Culin can have his collection packed & ready for shipment in about ten days & then it should go forward to you by express. The costs will be express & insurance (which he says are fairly nominal) & the expense of unpacking & repacking in Chicago. He assumes that a responsible person will handle the specimens & suggests that Dr. Laufer of the Field Museum might be willing to cooperate. I found Mr. Culin a delightful old gentleman & I am sure that he has more of the spirit of Brotherly Love than our Philadelphia friend. At the same time he is going to be put to considerable trouble in assembling & packing the exhibit & I know that a letter expressing your appreciation & assuring him that his beloved specimens will be carefully handled, will please him. His full name is on the title page of the catalogue which I left at your home. Ii am sending from the office tomorrow a copy of a letter to Dr. Barnes.
