h/w apdo 633/ Cuernavaca, Mor [Mexico] 17 april typed letter Dear old Jack,
this won't do at all, this moberlized silence. Speak up, every month or so, or I'll be inclined to send Mexican
roses. Lynn and I are very busy, writing a book about surviving Zapatistas, doing a collection of Traven's letters, finishing a documentary film on Zapatalandia and otherwise just trying to write poems, stories, and love letters.
we now have two very fine mountain horses, that is, all purpose Morelos horses capable of mt. trails, long
valley gallops and general village use. They are very beautiful, and were just a Xmas present; if bought north of Moberly, they'd be out of our wallet-ability; here, they're like 60. (us.) apiece.
Lynn puts out more poems than I do. I'll see if she has a copy of one for you. And we are reading as usual.
Womack's book on Zapata was much needed, and it serves scholars, but there is much to be said for the spirit of Zapatistas that scholars can't seem to say (not even in footnotes!) so we're trying. We also read Yeats, Hardy, Wells etc. I'm finishing Mailer's ARMIES OF THE NIGHT, a truly impressive book. Ah, our America, now that Mailer is here.
We hoist a Dos Equis (XX) now & then for you, but we are running out of tracts and hardly know how to voyage
thru the scummy shoals of Today without your guidance m your dictums. I need one on Sexual Restraint, Lynn needs one on Not Kissing Horses and we can always ^ use one on The Ten Commandments and how to negotiate them. Thou Shalt Not Forgett [sic] us, pio john.
h/w Love Charlie and Lynn
