Dear Conroy,

I'll be glad to review "The Disinherited" for the underlined: Nation if they'll let me have it. I've done two or 3 reviews for the New Republic, but none for the underlined: Nation. Can you pull any strings? I'll send your suggestion about the circulars on to Harcourts, & I'll be grateful to you. Of course the book'll never make back the $200 advance I got, so I have to find all the solace I can in such things. Snow sent me two issues of the underlined: Anvil - he's a damn fine egg & I read the first with keen interest, but the 2nd I have not got to, since we've been moving. Your criticism is well-founded, but unfortunately the negative side is all that my experience includes, and so I must leave the affirmative for the lads who can deal with it honestly, and certainly with more effectiveness than I could ever muster. But the negative, I believe, has its uses.

Yours. George Milburn
