Chicago, 2/7/72 (Monday) Dear Jack:

 Just a short note to say that Jimmy Sheridan died at 10 A.M. yesterday. He had had a long siege of illness in the past year.
 I was notified just after closing time for the mail pick-up-closing at 1:30, so couldn't get a letter off to you earlier. I did 'phone Bill

Wedlake at Marquette, Mich., as there was possibly a chance he might have occasion to pass through Chicago on the way to maybe an impending funeral of a brother-in-law, who is extremely ill at age 89. But also, I thought my notification re Jimmy might not reach W.W. until next Wednesday.

 There'll be one of those non-religious ceremonies just one  (over)
