- Hiatus:
Just talked with Bill Robinson by 'phone. He and wife are still in the land of the living. He was just as surprised as I was (when I learned of underlined: this last week) to find

that "rails" could no longer get half-rate tickets on railroads. And I used to think the half-rates were robbery for us old-timers who once knew at least one free foreign line pass yearly. Of couse, [sic] we can ride free on our own lines on the limited, dirty, slow trains our lines furnish.

My daughter seems to be getting along fairly well right now. She lives in one of those apts (boxes) in a pseudo-hacienda-style apt bldg. - where one old-time family

had a cabin on a lot, now 40 families live (?). Typical of the mock Spanish-Moorish, Jerry-built bldgs of California where whispers in the next apt. can be heard as well as footsteps. Will just be here ten more days. Though I know that the inspiration for the enclosed leaflet is reactionary, still it's funny. Regards - MEAD
