Got back to Chicago yesterday morning after a most unsatisfactory train ride on the Pennsylvania, which only provided two obsolete (no air-conditioning), dirty

passenger coaches on the Manhattan Limited, formerly a really good, though not an excess-fare, train. Running time was good, though arriving only 20 mins late, "P.C" has a vicious plan to cut service, which is being fought by a passenger group and (perhaps too mildly) the R.R. unions. West of Harrisburg the "rails" aboard showed me where 44 cars had left the tracks. Many autos were in a river, fell off cars. I had only time for a few days in Dublin, three in all, and lost the better part of 24 hrs due to quite heavy rain. You may have noticed a store on the right side of Talbot street as you approach the Amiens street railway station? This store sells fruit, candy, etc. also sweepstakes tickets, sells only those five-shilling shares (5/). Not having a great deal of time, I bought several full, £1, tickets - for my wife's sister and one for the little boy who lives in the land (Warner Ave.). Very few Irish have the £1 tickets, buy shares: So, you don't have a lot of tickets, really, just four - 5/= a full ticket, so hang onto the four and the top receipt. .

Icelandic airline had (for me) the most economical fare, and with my pass I rode to New York to board, as the line doesn't fly from Chicago. I'll probably never go that way again.  (over)
