Amongst cards received for Christmas was one from Ruth Sheridan, who is located in Anchorage, Alaska
As I'd promised (again) to visit my daughter, went down to S. Fe. travel bureau (Jackson & Mich.). to get my half-rate ticket.

Nothing doing, "rails" from foreign lines must pay full fare. Same with U.P., which leaves here on Milw. Lines to Omaha, and I always thought 1/2 rate was robbery. We only got one free pass on underlined: one foreign line years ago, as it was. "Of course", the S. Fe lady who waited on me said "your annual pass is good on your own lines" !! - And the Penn Cent-pirates want to end passenger service. The S. Fe used to be the most hated road by the boomers.

So, I'll wait up late at night with those people who get the "stand-by air rate tomorrow and will arrive much less tired than going by
