reading, as it cheers me, particularly after weeks of no success. More than any one comedian, Allen was robbed and continues to be robbed of original material.

While I get by on the pension, would like to do better, so am still trying to get work as an act, and I've never had my materials rejected a/c lack of quality ( I can't do blue stuff ), and reading Allen's accounts of his efforts to get started and restarted (and he was young), I see that until the right agent connection is made, it's like writing in a cave with no exit. But my Irish will carry me through, though my wife is sure I'll never make it, and so often I found people in her part of England that seemed like born losers!

In your case, you have knowledge of the mechanics of writing and much experience in assembling materials, certainly deserve success re. $$$$$. I not that Studs' book is #1 on the best seller list locally for the past week, and he reviews HELL'S ANGELS in the Trib. today.

Snow almost gone by yesterday, then a light snow came last night. I hope snow was handled more intelligently than it was here in your area, I mean. By now you have settled-in, and I trust you can do what you want to do. also I trust Mrs Conroy's leg 18 much better. I don't know if I mentioned this, but several years ago I was supposed to have an operation on my left knee. The surgeon, Phil Lewin, was a specialist on the knee. Not many surgeons can claim great skill with the knee, I learned. The doc died before the operation was performed. He was married to the woman who provides the dancers, Merriel Abbott, for the Palmer House, etc. A man I worked with had the same operation by another surgeon, and it was a big failure- he had to retire, as the knee got worse afterward.

I remain at this rooming house, not happy, but stuck until I do better. Pensioners can be an awful pain in the derriere, I've learned, and here we have several, and amongst the world's greatest idiots. The Racing Form and sports news is their literature, and the women are just awful. I'm very sorry to hear about the rockingchair decision in your case, though I knew about that law, yet you may be able to win, as I've known appeals to succeed. In Sheridan's case, they fought him, and while I claim no credit for this, I did urge him to fight, which he did successfully.

Best wishes to you and Mrs. Conroy,
