Dear Jack:

After a month of procrastinating I now find time to reply to your kindly card and contents.
Upon receipt of the card I arranged with several friends to drop a line to W-B-K-B, also a few 'phone calls.

At the time your card arrived, our outfit was short of men due to two men on vacation and one in hospital. Therefore I took advantage of 7 or 8 chances to do a second-shift at time-and-one-half, money greatly needed. Mrs. Mead had a rather severe gall bladder attack early in October, was housebound for a few weeks.

Yes, I hear from the Terrible Twins, and am in arrears on my communications in that direction also. [[underlined: The

Listeners]] are piling up here, so will see you soon. Regards, Mead
