ST. FINBARUS CATHEDRAL & RIVER LEE, CORK CITY: Rising above the South Gate Bridge on the south channel of the River Lee, is the imposing Church of Ireland Cathedral of St. Finbarr. It is said to occupy the site of the ancient sixth-century Church of that saint, the present building being the third on the site. The architecture is Early French Pointed Gothic with the characteristic great height in proportion to size. The Cathedral is highly ornamented and reveals a genius for detail on the part of its architect, W. Burges, A.R.A. No 2/149 Printed and Published by John Hinde Ltd. Cabinteely, Co.
