in pencil IAN MACLEOD 5/25/44 Dear Jack

I was glad to get your letter but sorry I missed you. It was a case of your going out one door

and my coming in the other.

My wife and I have a summer cottage at Bass Lake, Indiana. We spend every week-end there

and will be there next Tuesday. Right now she is trying to decide whether to stay down this week-end for the whole summer or next week-end. This makes my plans for next week rather uncertain, however I hope you can arrange to spend an evening during the week of June 5 with me. I hope that like "Omar" & Robert Burns you will partake of the brimming bowl that cheers altho lately it seldom is brimful and often its effects are depressing.

I would certainly enjoy anything you have written at any time.
    Yours Mac
