  Every week or so I read your Hard Winter and it does things to me   It drives home the ugly fact that there is an altogether different world than the one I am living in and that is disturbing    I hope H.L. hurries up with  your next article.  Also that you land with Scripps Howard or sell enough to the Mercury and others to give you what is honestly yours.  I further hope that you never get as smug or lazy as I am.
  I do hope to see you in New York ere long.  There are lots of things to do and see.  We live in a very interesting and civilized semi surburban [sic] community called Sunnyside with a high socialist, artistic, communistic, literary quota.  & with the most interesting and I believe inteligent [sic] geographical unit in New York
