Dear Mr. Conroy.

At the present time I am a student of Mrs. Mony Redding at San Diego Stat [sic] Un., working on my master's degree in English. This is my second class with Dr. Redding and in both classes we have read your book underlined: The Disinherited, which, I would like to add, I enjoyed very much. Now I would like to do an additional paper on you and your book for the Proletarian Literature class. Also if it is agreeable to you Dr. Redding thought I could write to you, giving you some of the views of the class and asking questions that I might need for my paper.
At the present time I would truly like to see more Proletarian Lit. taught in the High schools and maybe even the Jr Highs. I feel it is a much suppressed form of literature in our schools with no other way for our children to understand the working conditions and social events of their grandfathers and great grandfathers. My own 15 year old son reads my books and finds them both important and enjoyable.
