2236 Karlow ave Chicago Ill. Mr Jack Conroy sir, Dear Friend, Again I venture to send you a line I had a blue time down on The Loop Tuesday Morning looking for work. got wet and cold. Looking for a job in a place like that is Hell and its hard to Smile when your cold & wet I came to your Lasalle st address, rapped on the Fire Escap [sic] door but found you had either got away or hadn't got down town. I felt so blue I came home but probably should have waited a little longer. After returning home I met a Laundry man in a few rods of my rooming place who has given me what one might call a job soliciting for new Laundry work. He brought me to this address where I eat & sleep. It brings me in Contact with people and has builded a back ground for a good Short Story entitled underlined: "Finding a job in Chicago," where I went to apply for work, what they said and all would
