Walnut Creek Novr 11th 1879 Started about 4 am - went up on other side of creek - as the best travelling - for about 4 miles - when we reached what I took to be my roost. We dismounted & tied our horses & went in word scratched out A very short examination showed we were mistaken. The roost was near 4 mile above. Clarke came out of the thicket about same time I did. Day was just breaking. There was no time to go back after horses so we started on a "go-as-ya-please" for the roost
