  • I think I know you thoroughly, I fully appreciate your honesty integrity & uprightness, but with all your hard work , you are not a "fore handed" or money making man. You are too free with you money, too careless of little things & have too many kind neighbors to make demands on you & eat you out of house & home. *
 I know perfectly well that I am perfectly safe in lending you any reasonable amt, of money on a mortgage on your farm.  but I have so much affection for you & believe you have so much for me that I am loath to risk any loss of our affection by mixing it up with money matters.  I have said all this because I want you clearly to understand all my reasons for heretofore excusing myself from lending you money.-
