2 In this statement he first assumed that an Indian Agent may change the location of Agency at will. When in fact, he possesses no greater power, at most to effect such change - than is conferred on the commandant of a military post, to secure changes of location. Such authority is vested solely in the head of the Department of the Interior.

As I have recently returned from a tour of inspection, embracing all of the Agencies in the South West, - I should know if "for reasons best known to himself", any agent in that section, had removed his Agency "as far from a contiguous military post as he deemed consistent with his own safety", and ordered Govt buildings - valued at $20,000 to be burned.
I know of no such instance, either in Arizona - or elsewhere.
