The lurid light sent up seemed to become intensified and the reflection from the clouds more brilliantly beautiful and awe inspiring. I thought it was the harbinger of the second coming of our blessed Lord and Saviour, and I began to sing the song of rejoicing in honor of the Lamb that was slain I thought my whole and was filled with rapture, delight, gratitude and love to Him that sat upon the throne, as I was now sure of my salvation, and I gave praise to God with the full strength of my voice, and with exceeding great joy. In the midst of my song of praise and thanksgiving I awoke disappointed that it was a dream. Let us my soul ponder over the scene before the tomb of Joseph of unclear on the morning of the resurrection; when the risen Saviour first met Mary Magdelene. Have you not felt what a power of love was there displayed before you? Have you not felt, with all the favor of a broken and contrite spirit, the touching pathos, the gentle tenderness, the merciful loving-kindness with which our Lord said to the mourning penitent - "Mary!", and of the overflowing, joyfully grateful heart replying "Raboni?" What a stream of rich love here flows between the Saviour and the saved! But is this the only evidence of a Saviour's love? Is not sacred history full of such precious examples? Is not each day of our lives
