Sept 25th Genl B Lieut Harwood, Dr Matthews, a few mounted men and myself went down to the Crow camp. Found them below "unclear creek about 15 miles from the Fort. Most of the village was moving up towards the fort, so that we met them. As I had been in their camps before it was nothing new for me, but there were many things to interest a person. One is surprised at the beauty of some of the children, especially the little boys. They are busy now making new lodges, and have great quantities of plums, and buffalo berries in process of drying. The "Shot int he face invited us into his lodge, and gave us some plums and talked away for a while. After staying about an hour we came back having been away about seven hours.
