The snow mostly melted off during the day, (yesterday) and this morning there was about four inches more and still snowing. I was on guard during the night and it was very unpleasant night, I can assure you. The last night I was on (Thursday) there were misterious fires seen out on prairie and down on the river bottom. In the morning one of the men found an arrow on the road leading to the woods. 16th. Most of the snow melted off the prairie. 17th. Thousands of buffaloes are coming
