Dearest Mum:

 Enclosed find customary $5 00. Yesterday was Apollo's birthday. Did you recollect it?
 It is after twelve and Malcolm's and my lunch time. We are expecting Helen and her boys any minute, but they may not be here for an hour or more. She wrote

that they intended to drive out with Herman, and might bring the crib.

 Have I told you of the new houses that are being built? There are at least twenty within a block of us - thirteen of them in the big lot just south of the old Phillips

place, at the corner of Hillside and Glen Ellyn Ave. (Park Blvd.). These 13 have a community garage in the rear of the houses - a long, low structure with an apartment for each family. The houses are selling for around $10,000. I think Mr. Furman is the promoter and owns the land, I think. Two new houses are being erected next to Mr. Tuneson's so our block is nearly full.
