Radio has just this minute reported that USA has furnished "parts" for Chiang Kai-shek to construct 200 landing assault craft for an invasion of the mainland - that all the Nationalists needed was these craft "& U.S. support" (vis the 7th Fleet?). on the market for sale. Both Bertie & I have worked for over 50 years & we want to ease up - & to have more time to work for Socialism & to travel about a bit. (One trip we want to take is to see you & to take a look at that concentration camp down there, where some of us may soon be "boarders.") We find this place too large to maintain unless we have at least 8 patients & that throws too much day & night care on Bertie. We cut the number to four but that means no margin for the living help, so I'll have to be goatherd & farmhand when a young friend now w/ us goes back to college in a week or two. Which will leave me too little time for "subversive" activities.
