New Grafenburg, June 13, 1856. My precious brother;

I was very glad to receive your letter yesterday P.M. Had been looking anxiously for one, as I wanted much to hear how you and the rest of them were. I wish you were here now, for I have just been arranging a bouquet of the sweetest pink and white wild-flowers, and I would like no better pleasure than to present it to my brother. O, such a beautiful walk as I had the other day in the woods.

in margin: Miss Demeaux wishes me to send her love and to say that she wants to come and help her take care of the children. Dr. has had but one letter from Mrs. Holland, and when she wrote that she was not feeling well. Hadn't you better come down without waiting to hear from her as she may stay there a good while. Our new gentleman is French & not German, is full of fun I guess. Love to all the folks. ——
