Dec 17 1975 Dear Jack, I'm glad for your note and the news of "Writers in Revolt", but I wish for your sake it would sell more. Maybe it isn't the "right" kind of nostalgia so fashionable now. I've been wondering how your Autobiography is coming along. I don't know how you sort but all your experiences for one volume, won't there be more? I feel as if I'll die with all my books unwritten. By the time the varied experiences unknown for recreating, years go by. I worked almost none this year & completed nothing. Two stories begun. Jimmie has been terribly ill all year (in bed) & I got him out of hospital in March so I could take better care of him at home. He's a little better but very ill & weak. He's been courageous & uncomplaining, but is about to give up. He can't bear the thoh of not working again, but he did make "Funny Lady" & its up for nomination, and he has rec'd many honors. There's a big newstand here that sells a lot of literary magazines. December has a high reputation. I'll watch for it to read your chapter. I enjoy reading Conroy. Very sorry to hear about Ben Hagglund. The last I heard from him he was feeling happy again. I'll write him
