27 Homestead Lane Roosevelt, New Jersey. Dear Jack - Before I get on my own merry-go-round - here's a card anyway. Thanks for the clipping. I'm glad you liked the novel; I'd intended to write Nelson, too, when I saw his review. What's his address in New Orleans? Oh, that Merry-Go-Round of a life!!

My merry-go-round is my long novel in the Philippines occupation. In 3 or 4 weeks I'll be through with it - and then I'll look for a publisher. ?Wyn? has released me. About 2 months ago they saw the first 140 pages and were enthusiastic. Perry wrote me with a pen dipped in bright ink. Then, a month ago I sent them the next section, another 280 p. (this one is a whopper - some 600 pages in mss.) and I heard about a week ago. It was liked "Tremendously" but Perry said they felt public would not be interested in novel about "the occupation in P.I." So, sir, I am free.
I had enuf dough left to finance me in the writing of this novel. "B.N. Y.S." (lousy title that the publisher picked) did not sell a damn. I moved from Alexandria and Government last October, bought a place in a town of 800 population, some 55 miles from NYC. I could've gotten another Gov. job, but was fed up. I lost my own job when my agency was wound up - and thought well that was as good a time as any to check out! Best to you ?Ben?
