Dear Jack:

Thanks much for your letter. I'm hoping to return your magazines (??) As late Spring or early Summer. The book is slowly - (?) slowly - moving to a close. I hopt to hell that (?) & Want publish the (desesheulca) I shall (?) them (?) season a letter as I can advocating that they get it out in a hurry. I think you are too modest, in retrospect, about (Amd?). There's an aspect of the (Parttson?) Review story that isn't so pretty. What strikes me more and more as I (?) in the literary imbrogiey of the 30's is the careerism that lay behind the zeal of merry (voices). This was particulerly true, I think, of the NY City contingent and Messers Rohw and Phillips especially. I've been going through UF Cavlerton's papers and have found some letters of yours. Dear Denner also (showes) me a few you had written just after The Disinherited. Saw Joe Freeman a few days ago.
