My dear Miss Marshall,

You will, no doubt, be surprised at receiving a letter from this unheard of place, but I am at home on a short visit, and as it is my intention to make Chicago my home when I return North, I wish to avail myself of the privilege you so kindly gave me of asking a favor of you. I have secured a position in the Pension Office, and as i have but few acquaintances in Chicago, I venture to hope you will be willing to
