Rec'd yours of the 3d inst. Was sorry to hear of your mother's passing, but at her age one could expect nothing less. When one is living on borrowed time, and
especially after passing the 80 mark, any kind of a sickness is almost sure to prove fatal.
Yes, I feel sure that Uncle John would be a disagreeable person to have around constantly, for he never has anything pleasant to talk about. Always telling his wars,
and how illy he has been treated by this one and that. But I can truthfully say, May, that he had nothing but words of praise for you. I do wonder, May, what was the reason of my fathers being so unlike his brothers. It seems that the other three of them all have a mean, contemptible streak
