As you've probably heard thirty thousand soldiers were evacuated from Fort Riley, Kansas to escape the flood waters. Ronald was one of them. They worked in water and mud above their knees in a vain effort to build the dyke higher. Pillow cases and mattress covers from their load were used as sandbags. Now they're camping in pup tents in the hills where it's cold and foggy. Technically we're not "at war" so the government gives only one complete uniform. The boys must buy all replacements and extra (socks, belts, shirts ties, shaving equipment, shine kits, towels, laundry and bath soap) themselves, pay own laundry, pressing and cleaning bills, fresh white towels for daily inspection, etc. They don't have power to the unclear, and they must buy their own stationery, stamps, ink, etc.
