My dear Mrs. Walden:- I should have written you when I heard of your mothers death but I expected you would be coming home at once. I have seen Mrs. Golding and she tells me you may not return for some time.

Of course we knew the end was very near for your mother but having cared for her so many years, I know you miss her as a mother misses the child she has missed.
