9-9-34 566 Hillside Ave. Glen Ellyn, Ill. Sunday. Dearest mother,

This is the beginning of my vacation (with pay) what there is of it - and I believe I shall have a very nice time - even if I just stay at home and get lunch and dinner ready for the young men.
Many, many thanks for the rest of the luncheon set. It really is beautiful and I am so pleased to have it. I shall feel terribly dressed up using it and am going to enjoy it lots. I just feel as though it must have been hard on your eyes, though, taking so many stitches and I am hoping it didn't strain them.
Guess I have not written you since our peach canning day last Sunday. The boys helped very beautifully and we canned a whole bushel in three hours. We ate a lot of them - several dozen - and got 15 quarts besides. Did not have quite enough jars having used so many for applesauce so bought half a dozen from Mrs. Kopp. The peaches were $2.65 but they were nice yellow colorados - not a single bad one and the kind you could cut in half and go on to the next - so con(sidering)

[written in left margin] I did not mean to keep your pictures quite so long - enjoyed seeing them!
