Dear Fred, One of the last things I did before I left school was to address an envelope to you so that I could send you the Boose folktale reference. Here I am 2000 miles away and some months later with said envelope on my desk.

Here goes: B. A. BOTKIN, A Treasury of American Anecdotes, N.Y., Random House, 1957. Page 200-201 has Boose's tale, "The Non-Union Calf's Head." Page 301 in a note tells that Botkin collected it August 31, 1950 in Portland, Oregon.

You might enjoy reprinting it in the l. W. I have already sent to Botkin the I. W. stories on Boose's death in 1959. It would be interesting to get a letter or comment on the origin of the tale or any variants.

Now I'll give you a brief report on my activity since we last talked to each other. From school I returned home for a brief visit in late January. On Feb 12 I returned to Chicago to help launch Glazer's book. I spent a month on the road lecturing on laborlore. My trip took me from Chicago to Carbondale, Ill., Bloomington, Ind., Columbus, Ohio, Cornell and Rutgers Universities, N.Y.C. and Washington D.C. and home via Detroit for a visit to Solidarity House.
