Saturday 13th - raft at 10 miles - another at 15 miles, both about to get long. At 20 miles a beautiful long Red Bluff far above the reach of high water & washed by the river two or three hundred yards a fine situation for a town. At 35 miles 2 small crafts and Haines bluff just below this also is a fine town site being washed by the river some distance a high level timbered country broken left bank - at 46 miles raft 40 yards and another at 50 miles of 20 yards - camped on her ground subject to inundation on left bank say 60 miles. rained hard during night & next morning.
Sunday 14th - rained this morning - Departed late 8? o Clock and 1 1/2 miles Bluff right bank river washes. saw Bluff at 4 1/2 miles & at 6 miles high ground
appears on both sides probably above high water mark creek right bank at 15? miles Bluff right bank at 18 miles high & also very eligible for a Town _ 22 miles creek like Bank. 31 1/2 miles Bluff left bank. 34 miles raft 40 yds. Bluff just below. At 38 miles mouth of Richland layer then the river at the Mouth comes in on right. Drift at its mouth in the river at 40 miles Bluff at N.W. bend of River left bank & camped.
Monday 15th - Start 4 3/4 O.C. River washes same Bluff at intervals for an hour, at 20 miles Bluff left bank touched same 4 miles beyond. 34 miles Bluff right
bank 38 miles rafts 30 yds. 41 miles Bluff right bank same Bluff 1 1/2 miles below at 50 miles camp a Bluff left Bank.
Tuesday 16th - Departed 5 o.C. 12 miles Bluff right bank 9 o.C. reached Magnolia 31 miles - Total distance 273 miles
