25th Christmas day. Egg nogs, the foremost beverage this Morning. (Made of the white & yellow of eggs beaten up separately, the yellow will hyur?; then both mixed, with whisky, brandy and new Milk to thin it. - somewhat pleasant, but a very bilious nature. Visitings amongst neighbors; dinners & merry makings.

 At this time of the year the Negros have their weeks holiday; bedecked out in their best, they visit each other, the evenings ending in Singing & Dancing.
 I am informed that in Virginia and two or three states about it, The Negros are very much attached to their Masters in whose family some generations of Negros have been 'raised'; that they are easily managed & whipping is seldom resorted to.
