X about midnight it being very dark when a very pretty scene presented itself. Negros running to & fro calithing? & saddling horses, each with a flambeaux of "light wood"; (Pine). And those who left the bridal scene, their Negroes ahead with the fire pan? (that used in deer hunting) which sheds a very considerable light & over a great extent. The glare & smoke from the fire pan, the party on horseback - now a bonnet seen then a carabe? riding up along side of a young lady doubtless whispering soft nothings into her ear, the dense pine ?ods?, & lastly the horrible roads of mud & slush at midnight & a young nother? blowing its uniginth? airs - made the trip home a scene.
