   About noon of this day left San Antonio de Bejar for Columbus, and the Eastern part of Texas, by the lower road  to Gonzales which is uninhabited.  We had cold & rainy weather.  X

26th. About noon came to the Guadalupe at the Gonzales crossing, but it blew so strong & cold a 'Norther' that although we fired our rifles many times, the ferry man on the other side did not hear us. 27th. After much difficulty passed the river which was running rapidly & very deep.
