toron? &c - just behing? our camp there is an isolated hill - rocky - on the summit is a rude fort dug down in the rock - Came in a Liz-zery about S.S.E. - 8 or 10 miles came to the head of Canada Creek - leading to the Frio (Olmos) - We had not seen any deer during the ? large quantities of ferring moss - Saw ?nestles? in rock - dies? & then came on the Water hole - found no water, but when on a hike saw a barranco* being E. made for it & found it the Rio Frio, some 8 miles below Trout Camp on same river - Picked up a lame horse - passed an old waggon trail not far from river - Owing to bend in the Frio we think our line cuts it twice if not oftener & thus throws in
