Today met with 8 or 10 New sorts of Prairie flowers some were beautiful. Camped 2 miles over lands about head of Nixons CK ? - Thursday 9th We are now on the Main Rd, having the 'Settlements' on our left - Water Lily in great abundance & beauty in Water holes & heads of Creeks - (Kowampopin Indian for Water Lily). Around on the Latacer? 8 to 9 miles from camp - There is no scarcity of snakes about but the plant called rattlesnake Master is in great abundance the root is chewed - It has the taste of a strong bitter ?
