Sunday 1st. We have now fine weather the N.E. Winds & Rains appear to have lift (Equanestial) and balmy indeed is the air; the few clouds floating about, prevent the sun's rays from being oppressive. Son & self passed a good night - took 3q ? more of Quinine -
The Evenings are pleasant & still, save near the river and Eseguinas (aqueducts for irrigating the land) when a very few Mosquitos, but they meet with their never failing enemy the Mosquito Hawk; but about 1 AM. one is often awakened by the Roosters (Cocks) in the vicinity, One must not say Cock in these diggings when one has for half an hour
