makes a present to the chief speaker and Drum and the drummer Drum the Divorce song. after which the man states his cause of grievance and if there is no objection raised..which as a rule there is not. the divorce is completed. The squaw would not raise an objection for if she did it would probably mean her death in a short time by the influence of poison or a charm from bad Medicine Man.

  When a family has been in [?mourning?] they may "[?wipe?] it off." by a ceremony in the dance known as "[?Wiping off Mourning?]."  This is accomplished as follows.. The presence of the afflicted one. spared a new "Anakan" reed mat on the floor..and then they lead the mourners into the floor..and seat them upon the mat.  The squaws then take water and wash the women. and the men wash the men. they wash the face and remove he black. from the mourner. after being washed. the hair is combed and plaited. and then the men proceded to take some vermillion. and paint the face of each of the mourners. being [?men?]. and the squaws. paint the women. with a daub of red paint on the face. and this admits them again into the dance ring.  They [sic] paint is then daubed with the finger on the cheek or face of each individual man, woman. and child. in the ring.  After this the assembled company make presents to the [?mourners?].
  The '[?] dance is an important one and takes place toward the end. of the ceremony on the last day and is preceded by a "Feast of dog."  A dog is killed and the hair singed off. and he is then boiled up in a kettle for a feast.   The dog must be eaten at high noon.  if it cannot be it must be eaten at night out of the floor.
