assignment was made, that Ramsay Crooks of the City of New York should be appointed an attorney under him, and as his Substitute for the purpose of carrying into effect without delay, the object and intent of the said Indenture of Conveyance and assignment Now therefore know ye that I the said George Ehninger?, by virtue of the power and authority to me given by the said Indenture above mentioned, and of the rights acquired by or devolving? upon me under the same, have nominated, appointed, made and constituted, and by these presents, Do nominate, appoint, make and constitute the said Ramsay Crooks, as my Substitute, and the Attorney of the American Fur Company, and for all necessary? purposes, as my true and lawful attorney, in the name of the said Company, or in my name, or otherwise as may be necessary, to ask, demand, collect, recover and receive from all and every person or persons whatsoever and wheresoever the same may be, and to take possession of and secure all or any merchandize, property, or effects of any kind or description so conveyed or assigned by the said American Fur Company and all claims, debts, dues, and demands, or monies whatsoever in any manner belonging, or due, or payable, or to be come due, or payable to the said Company, and so assigned by them. And for such purpose if necessary to sue for, attach, seize, levy and take any property whatsoever, and to arrest, sue, prosecute and mislead? any person or persons, party or parties, in any Court, or Courts whatsoever. And to adjust and settle any accounts or claims of the said Company by arbitration or otherwise, and to give all necessary and proper receipts, acquittances, releases and discharges: and generally to do, transact and perform, all matters and things in and about the premises as fully and effectually as I could or might do, by virtue of the power and authority given to me by the said Indenture, or of any thing therein contained, if personally present, and acting, giving? and granting unto my said Substitute and Attorney, full power and authority in the premises, and ratifying and confirming all and whatsoever, he may legally do, or cause to be done by virtue of this unclear.
