In complyance with the earnest wishes & prayers of his late afflicted & scattered flock, he finally, On the 30th of Dec., appeared once more among them & resumed his spiritual functions. On the following Sunday, "It was a solemn assembly with all and never to be forgotten by us", says one of his parishioners. In the morning he entertained them from these words "Salvation is of the Lord," (Jonah II. 9) In the afternoon from words of the great Apostle of the Gentiles, "Brethren pray for us". (I. Thess. V. 25) For the third service, in the Evening he preached to his flock as a dying man, to dying men from those words of the royal Psalmists, "Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling." (Psal. II. 11).
