Bangor June 28th /56 My Dear Son I suppose you would like to hear how we are getting along I wish I had better news to write - I do feel almost discourag'd about Lucy sometimes: Some days she seems more comfortable but yesterday & almost every day she has pains & soreness in her side many distressing back ache her food distresses her very much. Her stomach & throat so sore coughing all the time her flesh very hot every afternoon Cant lie down day or night Sleeps bolster'd up or in her chair. - The stuff she coughs up looks bad sometimes blood & She raises I should think nearly or quits a pint every four & twenty hours but not withstanding all this there are some reasons shy we are encourag'd to hope that all will yet be well I wish you & Albina would write to me why dont you - I do so want to see the children & know just how you are all getting along
