Elyria Feb 21 1856 I have not seen much with my own eyes of this part of the Country it has been so cold & snowy - But I believe it is a very desirable place to live in. The Dr says if he was you he would sell out for what he could get - Thinks you could better yourself by taking a Farm here. Judge Hamilton who lives in this village has a house & garden & owns no other land. - Hires land of Judge Ely carries on considerable farming & supports a family & makes money - the Dr says he could get chances enough for you to take a Farm but that you had better sell your farm before you leave it he thinks that you could buy for 1200 dollars (hundred) in cash what would yield you more profit than your farm does - But the main thing is Society & literary and religious privileges - You can by great care & brains do considerable in the way of forming the minds of the children but after all they will be very much like the children they associate with - It makes me feel bad, how can they but be coarse rude uncultivated & boorish instead of the refin'd, amiable, well bred Christians
