I'm afraid E is a little too daring. I guess he does in regard to detecting Rumsellers &c what hardly any other person would or could do without giving more offence he is very efficient but very smooth & good natured about it. He seems contented & happy but his health is not very firm Sam'l thinks that E has not gain'd as much the past year as his expenses have been--will not continue with Mr. Haskins I think another year says he has all the labor & but half the pay. Eliab has not been here since a year ago last July

Charles is getting his harvesting done earlier than usual, has got his crops all in, his corn more than half husk'd, some plowing done, & has been doing some to the house and shed, chambers finished all but plastering..means to paint outside this fall
The little boys are well Charlie wishes me to tell you that he is most six years old...and that he wants you should come here & bring your baby--our baby is very smart & very high tempered indeed she is very knowing for 10 months old she'll climb up stairs get into her chair & rock & sing bye bye - ask her what the birdy say & she 'll crow like a little rooster

And Lucy thinks she's got the very best baby "there is" & so I suppose you do. How I do long to see your little one may god bless you & keep you from all harm & bring you all back in his own good time to your affectionate Mother
