J.M. to the Engineer. I have meant to, & forgot in each of my last letters to tell you of the progress of the R.R. Survey from Bangor to Calais, Nova Scota, & Ireland Hoping that you might get a place there when you are cast out of your present Stewardship. As we shall never succeed in doing it unless we write on purpose and as it may be of service to you therefore this the Traveller does not interfere in the matter as I have seen. Your venerable Friend has Charge of the Survey Morton I mean

 I have lost while Mother was gone to Hampden all the slips of Newspapers with which I forgot to inform you about it and can now but just give you the hint
I return'd from Hampden Saturday 2nd Lucy was very weak and feeble but getting better we think Almeda is going down today She has a good Bangor Nurse & Ann is there also She has every done for by Dr. M. Cruen and all the rest. I am more afraid the Dr. will do too much but we must trust that all things will be order'd for the best. We do hope that if Lucy gets well enough and Sam'l should go in the woods She will come here and stay 3 or 4 months this winter but we hardly done think of that yet.
