My Dear Son I reciev'd an excellent letter from you dated 17th for which except my many thanks. I plead guilty to Brother Joseph charge of not writing & - I retort upon him for he neither writes at all nor visits me - except he alone only once in almost 20 years while I who am so much less able to do it have been there 3 times.

 I am glad your employment is no worse than it is but on one account I do not like it. I want you should come home but Joseph says you must not. It seems as if there ought not to be any business that requires the entire and constant attention by the whole year it must be too hard too rearing. If I dont write whole letters I most always occupy a "Corner of Josephs. I fully intended to write you a long circumstantial one while Joseph was gone to Hampden but Albina was sick the whole time and I was not very well & I could not get much time or thought for it with two babies and all
 Charlie is a good natur'd clever little fellow but is a real driving energetic persevering child into every Mischief & Roguery The Eagle Story I suppose is true it occur'd near the same place probably was the same Eagle you & your Brother saw when you were after Blueberries wasn't it. I recollect you said the nest was larger than a bushel basket.
 There has been a good many chances - and quite an increase in the number of inhabitants in this town especially about the Mill. Mr. Wyman has Mov'd to Ashby his house is unoccupied C. A. Everett has built him a handsome house near Wymans his Father & Mother live with him Lucy did not so much as Call on Mrs. Angella Everett in all the 5 months she was here last winter.
