your conclusion is just that few families are brought up with so little intercourse with others as ours & I am and have been sensible that it has great disadvantages but it has not been without its advantages too in such a place as this where you could not have much society that would be preferable to Books which you have enjoy'd more than most others.

I think Charles would be very glad now if he could let his farm or what he would like better could have Joseph or Eliab come home and stay a year or two. I do think it would add to his enjoyment give him new life and energy if he could leave his carping care and drudgery a while still I dont think he would be content to be away long unless he could dispose of his property here and find a place that would suit him better which he is not likely to do Sam'l Furber says that the more real estate a man owns in Milo the worse off he is that the difference between the income and the taxes wont pay a man for wages for taking care of his property & that as soon as he can convert what he has in to moveable property he is going next & that if he cant do it without to much delay he shall give it to the poor & leave 'em a legacy worse than none etc. etc. In a letter he wrote to Charles he is way off in a logging camp and has cut his foot & been confin'd to camp 4 or 5 weeks. N.B. Three of the enclosed 5 I give to you with the other 2 I want you should get your likeness Daguerotipe and bring it or send it to me if you have opportunity before you come. you seem to be very fortunate about having help and making friends how do you know but you could coax that rich Mr. Gardiner to lend you some money by and by - I do mean you shall have some from home but I dont know exactly how or when - But however that may be we have cause for gratitude you have been signally blessed so far and if we are not want on our part we need not have any fears but what we shall all be provided for
