42 you will find no trouble in selling a good hunting horse - but what can your horse do, what is he remarkable for? - Oh says the Yankee when there is any game around he will sit down and remain until the game is secured - well says Kentuck that is remarkable - let us try him so the Yankee started off and soon saw some Rabbits tracks - he pulled the check rein and the horse sit down - Ah says Yankee there are Rabbits here - so the Kentuck started out his dog who soon started a rabbit and he was shot - remarkable says Kentuck what will you take for that horse - $200 says Yankee - done says Kentuck - and paying over the amount Started off - coming to a stream he thought to drive through as he got midway of the stream the horse hold down his head to drink - Kentuck pulled on the rein and the horse as he had been learned to do - sit down the water coming up to the Kentucks neck - tuning to the Yankee he said how is this? Ho says Yankee he is just as good for fish as he is for game - the lecture was instructive and interesting and from present appearances they will put the Law in operation very soon. -

Sunday Mch 16th

   Arose at 7 oclock and after breakfast and 2 letters from John and Annie Smith very interesting to me as they contained good news - attended the Presbyterian Church where I witnessed the Sacramental ceremony - they had very good singing the best I have heard since I came to Burlington - the Sermon was not very extra rather too Sectarian to suit me - after dinner went with Cheney out to Mr Adams' we found Mr Field and two of his daughters there - we had a sing until tea time - after tea walked back to the city and spent the evening in reading - 

Monday Mch 17th

   A very pleasant day - warm - and it really seems like a Mayday at home - took a walk after breakfast about town as Abraham has got home I shall not have anything to do at the Store - after dinner went to the College and wrote a letter to my good friend E F Gay - balance of the day was loafed away
