Dear Sir Following find report of Opt R.G. dated at Streator Ills Friday Aug 3d 1888.
Opt Reports that today in Chicago Supt Murray instructed Opt to go to Streator Ills and report to Mr Paris Master Mechanic of the CB&Q R.R. and that Opt should act under Master Mechanics instructions Opt left Chicago at 4 50 P.M. via CB&Q R.R. and arrived at Streator at 830 p.m. went to the unclear Hotel but not seeing a light in Mr Paris Room opt walked up the Q RR tracks and returned to the hotel at 10 pm and saw Mr Paris who said Opt could do nothing that night but in the morning Opt could walk up the tracks and see the switches where trains had been thrown off the tracks and Opts work would be to watch those switches and see if any one tampered with them and if they did to try and locate the person and get his name. Opt then discontinued at 10.30 pm. Sunday August 5th 1888 Today in Streator Opt further reports that acting under his instructions he went around town during the afternoon and saw several
